Аэродромный флаг авиационных отрядов и их соединений утвержден Постановлением Президиума ЦИК СССР «О флагах и вымпелах Союза ССР», 29 августа 1924 года.

Описание флага:

«Прямоугольный голубой флаг с отношением длины к ширине 3:2, с золотой бахромой на свободной короткой стороне. На центральной поперечной оси, на расстоянии одной трети ее от верхней кромки флага - желтый круг (солнце), внутри которого - красная пятиконечная звезда, обращенная одним концом вверх и имеющая в центре перекрещенные жёлтые серп и молот. Круг имеет диаметр, равный одной четверти ширины флага, а звезда - радиус, равный 2/3 радиуса круга.

От жёлтого круга к углам и кромкам флага расположены 14 расходящихся жёлтых лучей, ширина которых у круга равна 1/24, а у кромок - 12 ширины флага. Расположение лучей: 4 - к углам флага, 2 - по поперечной его оси, 2 - по направлению, параллельному горизонтальной оси, и остальные - в промежутках между ними.

В центре флага расположены: кольцо пропеллера (радиус 1/16 поперечной оси и ширина в половину своего радиуса) чёрного цвета и пропеллер того же цвета в горизонтальном положении с концом лопастей на расстоянии 1/6 центральной оси в обе стороны от центра флага. Наибольшая ширина лопасти- 3/4 радиуса кольца. Красная звезда поддерживается крыльями, опирающимися на кольцо пропеллера и распростертыми на одинаковое расстояние от главной поперечной оси. Размах крыльев - 7 радиусов желтого круга; промежуток между крыльями (место упора звезды) равен одному радиусу круга.»
